10 – Wartales

If you’re looking for an open-world RPG that feels like something out of Game of Thrones, you have come to the right place. Wartales sets you free in its expansive low-fantasy world, at the helm of a company of mercenaries, and then it’s up to you to figure out your goals and set your ambitions. Do you want to explore, conquer, or become rich beyond your wildest dreams? It’s all up to you. The best fit for a player looking for a 20-hour-long experience they can truly sink their teeth into.
9 – Total War: Three Kingdoms

Say what you will about Total War. Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that the series has released some amazing bangers of the years, and Total War: Three Kingdoms ranks amongst the best and most spectacular games of the entire catalogue. Taking place during the epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms, players take control of one legendary warlord from the Chinese epic as they vie for control of China. It was also the first Total War to introduce in-depth dynamic relationships between characters that are actually fun to engage with during the campaign, very similar to something like Crusader Kings. Of course, the highlight is still the real-time strategy battles, which are just a marvel to play and look at in Three Kingdoms. It’s just a shame the game was never truly finished, but hey, for a little over 10 dollars, it’s totally worth it.
8 – WARNO

I wasn’t sure if I should endorse WARNO or Broken Arrow until I saw their prices. While Broken Arrow is just 15% off and it will set you back 40 bucks, WARNO, on the other hand, is an equally amazing real-time tactics game, and only costs $15. Set in an alternate-history scenario of the Cold War gone hot, WARNO is the best title Eugen Systems has ever released, and they have also worked on other extremely good games, such as the Wargame and Steel Division Series. The game has hundreds of units, several large single-player campaigns similar to Total War, and an active competitive multiplayer community.
7 – Sins of a Solar Empire 2

Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is what happens when you take one of the most beloved space RTS games ever made and modernize it in all the right ways without losing its identity. Blending real-time strategy with 4X elements, the game lets you build vast interstellar empires, manage diplomacy, and command massive fleets in real time. Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is the definition of what a great sci-fi strategy game should be: depth, scale, and spectacle.
6 – Total War: Warhammer 3
Total War: Warhammer 3 is the culmination of everything Creative Assembly has built over years of Total War and Warhammer games. It’s massive, over-the-top, and unapologetically complex, in the best possible way. With the Immortal Empires campaign, you essentially get one of the largest strategy sandboxes ever created, combining factions, mechanics, and maps from all three games into one gigantic experience. Whether you’re commanding demonic legions, disciplined human armies, or bizarre fantasy creatures, every faction feels unique and worth mastering. Yes, it had a rocky start, but in 2026, it’s in a fantastic state, constantly supported and expanded. If you ever wanted a strategy game you could sink hundreds of hours into without getting bored, this is it.
