Introduction
The Steam Spring Sale of 2026 is live and running from the 19th of March all the way to the 26th. With just one week to make the most of some of the sweetest deals around, you have to act fast and be quick on your feet. That’s why I created this list of the 10 best strategy games to buy during the Steam Spring Sale 2026, to help you navigate the thousands of available deals and make the best shopping decisions.
This list has 15 games I have personally played, some of which I have reviewed or covered in other lists, so you have my personal recommendation on how good and worth they are. Let’s dive straight into them.
15 – Master of Command
If you had asked me what I thought about the idea of mixing up real-time strategy 18th-century musket warfare with roguelike mechanics and a dynamically generated campaign, I would probably have laughed you out of the room. Well, the Armchair Historian proved me seriously wrong by releasing Master of Command, one of the best Total War clones you can play in 2026, and the fact that it manages to cram roguelike mechanics into what’s usually a serious historical setting and be really good at it is extremely impressive.
14 – Xenonauts 2

Xenonauts 2 is approaching the end of its Early Access roadmap. The final full version is coming out on April 2nd, so if you enjoyed XCOM: Enemy Unknown, or if you enjoyed the 1994 X-COM: UFO Defense, you’ll be falling in love with Xenonauts, a game that’s in everything but name, the spiritual successor to the original XCOM.
13 – Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector

In 2026, we have plenty of great strategy games set in the Warhammer universe, but my favorite is still Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector. Released by Slitherine in 2021, it’s a fast-paced turn-based strategy game set in the titular grimdark universe, which has an amazing and vast single-player campaign, as well as an active competitive multiplayer scene that’s constantly receiving new updates and DLCs. In 2026, the game features nearly all major factions from the tabletop.
12 – Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition

It’s Age of Empires 2, one of the best real-time strategy (RTS) games ever made. I’m sure you heard of it, and if you haven’t, there’s a 99% chance you know someone who has. If, for some reason, you’re one of the rare few in those 1%, then it’s the RTS to rule all RTS, and you should buy it. Now.
11 – Tactical Breach Wizards

Tactical Breach Wizards is many things! Funny, witty, well-designed, beautiful, has an amazing premise, and one of the main mechanics of the game is throwing people out of windows and scenarios. Also, what other game allows you to command a team of Spec Ops Gandalfs? I love Tactical Breach, Wizards. It’s one of the greatest turn-based strategy games to ever grace my PC.
