7 – XCOM: Enemy Unknown

I don’t think we’ll ever see a sale where I don’t recommend XCOM: Enemy Unknown. If that comes to pass, it’s because every single human being on this earth has visited Strategy and Wargaming and bought it! The game that single-handedly revitalized the strategy genre on PC in the early 2010s, XCOM is a modern classic in every sense, and very much worth playing today. The game stands as a true testament to how a series can change drastically, for the better, and how innovation, when directed by talented people, can change the face of an industry. The fact that an experience like this is going for so cheap is more than proof that we live in a time when gaming is truly at the best it has ever been.
6 – Age of Empires: Definitive Edition

The one and only that started it all, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, is on sale, and it’s better than ever. For a little more than a fiver, players can pick up the game that birthed the most recognizable real-time strategy franchise in History! While Age of Empires 2 is much more widely recognized as the true game changer, there’s no denying that the first Age of Empires was, in and of itself, a pretty amazing game that introduced the Ages concept, refined unit control, and brought historical strategy to new heights. If you never had the chance to play this classic before, pick up its Definitive Edition, and if you have, and want to relive some 20-year-old memories, you can do it for less than the price of a Starbucks coffee.
5 – Stellaris
Is there a better way to start than with one of the best sci-fi strategy games of all time? That’s right! Stellaris, one of Paradox’s best games ever, is on sale for less than 10 dollars during the Steam Spring Sale of 2026. Just in case you haven’t been around the strategy gaming space, Stellaris is one of the all-time favorites, and it achieved that by becoming the most comprehensive and complete strategy game to be set in space, and allowing an unparalleled level of freedom to the player to explore the galaxy, expand their empires through diplomacy, economic prowess, or force. Even if you don’t want to start spending hundreds of dollars to buy the whole DLC, the game is very much worth experiencing, especially at this price point.
