Last week we had 19 pieces of news in a single round-up, so it was only natural that this week things would cool off for a bit. Well, they haven’t, really: The Steam Next Fest 2026 is underway, Bolt Action got a new developer diary, Headquarters: Cold War has a release date, and idyllic city-builder Town to City will allow players to terraform their maps.
Steam Next Fest 2026

Just in case you have been living under a rock for the last week, the first Steam Next Fest of 2026 is now live, and there are well over 3400 games to try out. Since it’s impossible to try every existing game, I have compiled an amazing list of the best strategy games to try during the Steam Next Fest, and it has spread like wildfire, and a lot of developers have reached out to me to try and get their games featured in there. Very interesting.
Armored Brigade 2 Scandinavia

Armored Brigade 2 reigns supreme as the best tactical-level wargame set in the Cold War, by quite a large margin. If you’re a fan, you’ll be glad to know that a new Scandinavia DLC has released. Your $19.99 will buy you quite a fair bit of new stuff, such as the 3 new playable armies: Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, 500 units, new maps set in Sweden and Denmark, as well as 2 new campaigns, and 3 missions.
The Black Legion Invades Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector

The new DLC faction of Warhammer Battlesector finally brings the Chaos Space Marines into the best turn-based strategy game of the beloved grimdark universe. These heretic Space Marines come courtesy of Warhammer 40.000: Battlesector – Black Legion, and the DLC is composed of 15 new units, amongst them players will find the Chaos Terminators, the Helbrutes, and the Chaos Lord. It has been quite a while since I last played Battlesector. I really need to go back to it and replay the campaign.
Headquarters: Cold War Out March 19th
Slitherine really seems to have decided to release every newsworthy announcement on the same week, haven’t they? Well, it seems like Armored Brigade 2 is finally getting some much-needed competition with Headquarters: Cold War, coming out relatively soon, on March 19th. If you want to know more about Headquarters: Cold War, you can check out my coverage of Slitherine Next, when the game and its details were announced.
Bolt Action Dev Diary 2 Focuses On Orders

Bolt Action is one of my most anticipated games of 2026, even if I actually forgot to put it on the list. Sorry about that. Not necessarily because I’m a massive fan of the tabletop, as I haven’t had the opportunity to play it, but because I’m always happy to see a good franchise get digitally adapted. The most recent Dev diary from the team goes in-depth into the Order system. Here are the six orders:
- Fire: orders the squad to fire all their weapons within range of the enemy
- Advance: the squad will move and shoot
- Run: the squad will move double the distance, but won’t be able to shoot that turn
- Ambush: This is essentially a sort of overwatch order
- Rally: a way to recover from suppression
- Down: orders the squad into a defensive position to decrease the probability of getting hit.
These orders are directly imported from the Bolt Action tabletop ruleset, and in my last survey, most of you said you were hoping to see a faithful adaptation of the tabletop rules into a video gaming format. Hopefully, the final product will be something that manages to bridge the gap between digital and tabletop and allows for fans of both to have a great time together.
Sherman Commander Release Date Announced
Having played a bit of the demo of Sherman Commander, I’m still not impressed with it. The tank control isn’t great, the performance is bad, and the game just doesn’t look all that good. The game is now set to come out on the 14th of March, and I hope that the release build is a significant improvement over what’s on this demo of the Steam Next Fest.
Change The Terrain At Your Heart’s Content In Town To City
This is a small update to let you know that the cozy city-builder Town to City now allows you to terraform.
Wargame Design Studio Game of the Week

Wargame Design Studio Game of the Week is Panzer Battles: North Africa 1941. This grand-tactical/operational-level wargame covers the actions in North Africa during 1941, and also includes the invasion of Crete. There are 117 playable scenarios, 8 master maps, and 8 total orders of battle.

I do what I do in Strategy and Wargaming because I love to do this, and I’m never going to stop. If you would like to support me with that, you can buy me a coffee for a dollar if you’re feeling generous.
