Top 10 Must-Try Strategy Games Demos For The Steam Next Fest 2026

1 – Sudden Strike 5

While I might have not been the greatest fan of Sudden Strike 4, and I was rather unjust in juding it too harshly, the matter of the fact is that if you’re looking for a real-time strategy game set in World War 2 that doesn’t require dozens of hours to learn how to play and master, Sudden Strike 5 is going to be the game for you in 2026, without a shadow of a doubt, in my opinion, especially if you’re looking for singleplayer content, and plenty of it. The game is going to have over 300 units, 3 factions, and 25 missions. The demo gives you the chance to play two of these missions with Allies on “Attack on Monte Cassino”, and the Soviets during the “Defense of Sevastopol”.

Conclusion

I truly hope this list has helped you navigate your way through the Steam Next Fest 2026 and that you came out of these demos with an idea of what to be excited about going forward. If you haven’t yet, make sure to try as many demos as you can, from the amazing World War 2 action of Sudden Strike 5 and Battleplan, all the way to the early days of ancient warfare with Ancient Wars: Sparta. There’s a lot to enjoy and play around with, and remember that the Steam Next Fest is running from February 23rd all the way to March 2nd.

  1. 5, 2, & 1, are must try demos for me. Super excited!

  2. Hey ! Developer behind Kriegsspiel ~ 7 Years’ War here. Thx for encouraging people trying my game, even if it’s very early. For me, I’ll try (if I have time) Repterra, Colonization of the new World, and Battleplan. But for Colonization of the new world, I wonder how publisher will do to publish a game with a name so close of the old (but super good) Colonization from Sid Meier…
Ah, and if they do a spin-off of the game of 1994, you should play as Spanish, English, French and Niederlanders … err no Portuguese I think, except if they add new countries (which should be interesting)
