The year really is starting out strong. First Task Force Admiral comes out, and it’s a major success, now MENACE hits Early Access, and players are loving it as well. We, strategy players, have started 2026 with plenty to keep ourselves busy with. Not only that, but it seems that February still has plenty in store for us, so let’s dive into the major goings-on of last week and what’s coming up next.
Burden of Command Major Armor Update
To properly support the up-and-coming Three Nations DLC, the Burden of Command team has overhauled the way armor works. Now players taking the first shot will always fire first, SPGs won’t be able to dish out opportunity fire if you’re outside of their arc of fire, and turrented tanks are restricted to a 60-degree arc of fire. This update also adds plenty of bug fixes. If you remember correctly, Burden of Command was one of my favorite games of 2025, and I have praised it extensively for its humane portrayal of World War 2 in my review.

MENACE, one of my most anticipated strategy games going in 2026, is finally available for everyone to play and enjoy, as it came out last Thursday, february 5th, for a fair price of thirty dollars (with the 25% discount). Quickly earning a well-deserved “Very Positive” rating on Steam, Overhype Studios brought to us one of the best turn-based tactics systems of recent memory, with plenty of squad customization, a massive focus on careful planning, and an intriguing sci-fi setting. Overall, I’ll be spending the next couple of days playing it.
Task Force Admiral After-Launch Update
Released on the 27th of January, Task Force Admiral was the culmination of nearly a decade of development and dedication, and was very much on the radar of every historical strategy player out there. Fortunately, the game came out swinging and established itself as one of the most promising naval wargames of all time. Despite that, the work is nowhere near done, and the TFA team is working hard to bring us more content. A recent situation report announced that there are 3 new alt-history scenarios incoming, which you can read more about here.
