7 – Dune Imperium

Dune: Imperium blends deck-building and worker-placement mechanics as players lead the Great Houses in a battle for Arrakis. With rich visuals inspired by Frank Herbert’s universe, online multiplayer, expansions, and replayable strategy, this digital adaptation of the award-winning tabletop game with the same name is a no-brainer for fans of the universe.

6 – Carcassonne – Tiles & Tactics

I would challenge you to go to any store that sells physical board games, and I don’t think you’ll find a single one that doesn’t have Carcassonne. At least, where I live, that game is on every shelf. Carcassonne – Tiles & Tactics reimagines the medieval tile-placement classic for Steam with 3D board views, online multiplayer, and solo modes. Place tiles to build roads, cities, and cloisters, and deploy your meeples strategically to score points. It’s an accessible title, and for the entry price of just 3 dollars, this one should definitely be on your radar! There are plenty of DLC, in case you have and want to expand your gameplay options.

5 – Root

Root is yet another classic going on sale on this Steam Board Fest 2026, for 5 dollars. Based on the acclaimed asymmetrical strategy board game where 2–4 players battle for woodland dominance, each faction has unique mechanics and paths to victory. Some funny visuals are a great complement to the game’s tactical depth. It earns the top spot on this list of the 10 best board games to buy during the Steam Board Games Fest 2026 due to being a great adaptation of a beloved game and being ridiculously cheap.
