Introduction
This has to be one of the best sales I have come across in the last couple of months, and as someone who’s getting into board games, there’s a lot of game in here for just a couple of dollars. In fact, the Steam Board Game Fest 2026 is the perfect opportunity for strategy and board game enthusiasts to discover some of the best digital adaptations of tabletop classics and innovative new releases. From immersive tactical RPGs like Gloomhaven and Frosthaven to charming puzzle experiences like Dorfromantik, and crazy new concepts like Cultist Simulator, the festival showcases great classic games and exciting new demos that will give you that “feel good” kind of familiar sentiment one gets from playing board games.
The Steam Board Games Fest runs from January 26th to February 2nd.
Check out my other lists here.
10 – Cultist Simulator
This one is, quite possible, the game on this list I have the most amount of hours on: Cultist Simulator stands out as a unique roguelike narrative card experience that blends that sort of occult mystery with strategy, and emergent storytelling, casting players as a cultist and seeker of forbidden knowledge in a richly atmospheric, Lovecraftian-inspired world where every choice is truly your own, and each one of those carry heavy consequences. It’s a completely open-ended sort of game, where things can go sideways, and you can be captured by the police, or you’re able to reshape your fate and create your own sect. It’s cool, minimalist, and awesomely atmospheric if you enjoy Lovecraft.
9 – Armello

Armello has been out for quite a while now, it came out in 2015, and it’s a beautifully crafted digital strategy board game that brings a grim fairy-tale world to life, blending tactical card play, tabletop elements like dice-based combat (I know how you guys really love dice!), and RPG elements. as up to four players take on unique anthropomorphic heroes questing to claim the throne of a corrupted kingdom.
8 – Frosthaven

Out in Early Access since July 2025, and still in active development, Frosthaven is the most recent game on this list, and it brings one of the most acclaimed tabletop RPG-style board games into the digital realm, guiding players through an unforgiving northern frontier with evolving outposts and challenging turn-based combat. Rich visuals, diverse character classes, procedurally unfolding quests, and co-op multiplayer make it a deeply engaging and replayable digital adaptation. Still a bit pricey, at 30 dollars, but worth keeping your eye on. If the price is too much, there are a lot of cheap games on the next pages!
