4 – Stellaris
Look, it is Stellaris, I don’t think I need to say more, but this one remains one of the most complete and endlessly replayable space strategy games available in 2025, and for $9.99, paired up with the amount of content the base form of the game brings to the table, it’s almost an obvious choice. The reason it isn’t first on the list is that I suspect most of you already have it, and I wanted to spotlight another fantastic grand-strategy/ 4X space strategy that I think deserves as much, if not more attention than Paradox’s masterpiece.
Stellaris offers players the freedom to build, customize, and guide a galactic empire from its first faster-than-light jump to universe-shaping endgame crises. Developed by Paradox Interactive, with a bucket load of DLC already under its belt, and even more being developed as we speak, Stellaris isn’t going anywhere soon.
3 – Homeworld: Remastered Collection
Homeworld isn’t just a simple space game, or even an iconic RTS for that matter. This series (minus the last one) is an institution in the world of strategy games, having pioneered a whole new way to play space games with its 3-axis movement, and by launching Relic Entertainment into the path of creating some of the best RTS experiences ever, including Dawn of War and Company of Heroes.
If you want to experience the Homeworld franchise at the its absolute best, there’s only one way to do it, and that’s with the Homeworld Remastered Collection, as this one remains one of the most iconic and timeless space strategy game experiences you can add to your list during the Steam Winter Sale 2025 because it brings together beautifully updated versions of both Homeworld and Homeworld 2 along with the original classics, giving players an epic real-time strategy journey through massive 3D space battles, resource management, and fleet command that helped define the genre. The remastered visuals, high-resolution models, enhanced audio, and cinematic storytelling breathe new life into the beloved campaigns, letting both new players and longtime fans experience the emotional story of survival and discovery in a hostile galaxy while picking from over a hundred unique spacecraft and tactical formations.
2 – FTL: Faster Than Light
Oh, you thought that with the addition of Void War into the list, that FTL: Faster Than Light would be out? Nop! Not at all! For me, FTL still remains an essential and highly replayable space strategy classic that every player should experience once in their lifetime, even though they enjoy space games, strategy, or just roguelites in general. If you’re a fan of just one of those, you should definitely grab FTL because of its elegant blend of real-time ship management, tactical combat, and roguelike progression that delivers tense, memorable runs every time you launch a new journey through the stars. If you want a compact but endlessly engaging space strategy experience with high replay value and tense choices that reward quick thinking and careful planning, while it’s discounted, FTL is a must-own in 2025.
