Introduction
Given the success of my lists and the people telling me they always find out about new games by consulting them, I thought, why not do a monthly list going over the top 10 trending strategy games on Steam? With new releases, long-awaited sequels, and surprise indie hits climbing all the sales charts, it just makes sense, and I hope you agree with me. Whether you’re into grand-strategy epics, intense tactical warfare, or creative city builders, this month’s lineup showcases some of the most exciting and innovative games the genre has seen all year.
10 – Master of Command
Master of Command is one of 2025’s most surprising strategy games, being a very unique blend between a gritty real-time tactical strategy game set during the Seven Years’ War, mixed up with rogue-like mechanics that generate new campaigns and encounters, as well as army management and logistics. Players command historical armies and regiments, manage supply lines, and fight punishing engagements where every loss matters, but every victory is extremely satisfying, and overcoming the tough campaign bosses gives players a rare sense of achievement after a grueling struggle. Its rise comes from offering a more focused, tactical alternative to large-scale grand strategy, with procedurally generated campaigns that keep each run tense and unpredictable. Finally, those who wished for a new Empire or Napoleon Total War now have an alternative.
9 – There Are No Orcs
There Are No Orcs isn’t the kind of game I often showcase here, but I can see some of you being interested in it, especially given how cheap it is (less than 10 dollars) and it’s already packing a very positive review rating. There Are No Orcs has quickly become a standout newcomer on Steam, blending RTS, roguelike, auto-battler, and tile-building mechanics into a fast, replayable strategy loop. You choose from three factions and dozens of commanders, then build synergistic structures that automatically spawn units for each run. It’s trending because of its low entry price, launch-week momentum, and deep run-to-run experimentation, rewarding players who enjoy discovering powerful new combos and tactical placements.
8 – Super Fantasy Kingdom
No, you’re not looking at a Super Nintendo printscreen; you’re looking at Super Fantasy Kingdom, a roguelite city building with survival combat, challenging players to rebuild a ruined kingdom by day and survive massive waves of monsters by night. The game is published by fan-favorite Hooded Horse, and it has one of the most unique art styles around. And it has just come out into Early Access. It’s another one of those addictive strategy roguelites where quick loops of gameplay sessions alongside a meta progression will keep you coming back time and time again until you finally realize it’s 3am and you have to work tomorrow.
