Strategy and Wargaming News – 23 November 2025 – Brass Rain New WW2 FPS, Phantom Brigade 2.0 Update, New WDS Game Announced and So Much More!

Phantom Brigade Gets a Massive 2.0 Update

Phantom Brigade, which already was one of the best turn-based strategy games you can play in 2025, just got a lot bigger and a lot better! This transformative update is free and completely rebuilds the overworld and the campaign experience, with new maps, new provinces, new quests, and a system that dynamically generates new missions. The game also has a new pilot system that allows players to recruit pilots with over 100 unique traits and abilities. With this, you’ll also have to manage your pilot’s fatigue and trauma. There were plenty of visual upgrades as well, and the game is absolutely stunning, with its clean, almost surgical look. To round this off, the game is currently going for 50% off, costing just 15 dollars, which is an absolute steal.

Cities: Skylines Developer Leaves Paradox

In a surprising announcement, Paradox and Colossal Orders, the studio behind the successful Cities: Skylines franchise, have decided to end their long-running partnership. Development of the not-so-great Cities: Skylines 2 and the franchise as a whole will be transferred to Iceflake Studios, an internal Paradox team known for Surviving the Aftermath, starting in early 2026. I wish them all the best and hope they manage to turn Cities: Skylines 2 around.

Terra Invicta Receives Final Massive Patch Before 1.0 Release

Terra Invicta, the famously complex grand strategy title from the team that worked on the Long War mod for XCOM, has deployed a significant update before its eventual 1.0 launch. This new update brings 50 new regions to Earth, alongside new nations, breakaways, and formables, and new mechanics for region annexation and federations. New events were added, the tutorial was revamped, the UI was updated, and the AI has been improved. There’s also a new “realistic” combat mode where fuel consumption is higher and ships are now closer to their actual size. It’s hard to believe the game came out in 2022, over 3 years ago. I cannot wait to review it when the 1.0 release finally hits.

Bellfortis Goes To Japan

Indie strategy game with a 92% positive review rating on Steam, Bellfortis just got a new DLC called The Battle for Japan, and this one is going to take players all the way back to the 16th-century Sengoku Jidai period, commonly known in English as “The Warring States” period. You’ll have to choose one of the clans and try to defeat a whole host of Japanese warlords. The game is also introducing a host of new, unique units to the geographical location and time period, such as matchlock guns. The DLC is retailing for less than 5 dollars, so go ahead and give it a go!

Xenonauts 2 New Massive Update

Xenonauts 2 is well on its way to a 1.0 release, with the team saying that Milestone 6 is “a significant update to the game that primarily focused on completing our Early Access content roadmap. Although there will be a little more content arriving in Milestone 7 (which will be our 1.0 launch build), we’ll now largely be concentrating on polishing and improving what we already have”. There’s a massive list of changes, but to highlight a few, there was an air combat revamp that reworked the interface, a new alien escort craft called Defender UFO, New models and animations, new environment art, a Soviet Town Biome, and a lot more!
