The 20 Best Real-Time Strategy (RTS) Games To Wishlist In 2025

10 – Fragile Existence

Fragile Existence, a sci-fi real-time strategy (RTS) survival game from Fragile Continuum and Hooded Horse, projected for release on PC in late 2025 is going to challenges players with the gargantuam task of leading humanity’s last nomadic fleet through procedurally generated solar systems, constantly fleeing an unknown enemy after Earth’s destruction, all to save our species from the brink of extinction. The game uniquely blends deep fleet management with the establishment of temporary ground colonies for resource gathering and survival, and space combat. To me, personally, my standout feature of the game is the seamless transition between orbital space battles and tactical ground combat on fully rendered 3D planets, something no other game I can think of actually pulls off. With its emphasis on a nomadic empire, desperate survival, and innovative space-to-ground gameplay, Fragile Existence is a must-wishlist for fans seeking a profound and unique new PC strategy game experience.

9 – D.O.R.F. Real-Time Strategic Conflict

One thing players cannot complain about is the state of real-time strategy (RTS) games in 2025: the amount of fan service being paid to older titles of the 90s and 2000s. D.O.R.F. Real-Time Strategic Conflict is an anticipated PC RTS game from the independent DORFteam, aiming to revive the classic 90s-era real-time strategy experience with modern innovations. The amazing Red-Alert-like graphics, the art style, the fast-paced gameplay, base-buildings, and combined-arms warfare across land, air, and sea with some of the wildest units I have ever seen in a videogame certainly make D.O.R.F. Real-Time Strategic Conflict one of my most anticipated games ever, and is in my top 10 most anticipated strategy games for the foreseeable future. Inspired by Command & Conquer, the game emphasizes constructing efficient bases, managing resources, and assembling diverse sci-fi armies. A unique feature allows infantry to storm enemy buildings for brutal close-quarters combat and capturing enemy tech. With its nostalgic isometric 2D aesthetic, dynamic lighting, and focus on tactical depth in skirmishes and campaigns, D.O.R.F. is a compelling long-term wishlist addition for fans seeking a true spiritual successor to legendary RTS games.

8 – Anno 117: Pax Romana

The Anno series of games is one of my childhood favourites, with Anno 1503 making up a substantial part of my memories of my early endeavors into the strategy game. Anno 117: Pax Romana takes the formula all the way back to the Roman Empire, and is scheduled for release on November 13, 2025, across PC (Steam, Epic, GOG), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by Ubisoft Mainz, this title allows players to become a Roman Governor, shaping their provinces’ destinies through intricate economic, diplomatic, and military decisions. The game features unprecedented detail in city construction, demanding meticulous resource management and the establishment of complex production chains. Players will face impactful choices regarding expansion into new regions like Celtic Albion and can engage in tactical land and naval combat. With its deep economic simulation, historical immersion, and blend of strategic choices, Anno 117: Pax Romana is a definitive must-wishlist for fans seeking a rich and engaging new Roman strategy game in 2025.

7 – Dust Front RTS

Dust Front RTS looks like it’s going to be one of the wildest real-time strategy (RTS) experiences available as soon as it comes out. The trailer showcases hundreds of massive units and infantry fighting over a desolate landscape reminiscent of something straight out of the First World War. Inspired by Command & Conquer and Warhammer 40,000, it promises a return to classic RTS mechanics like base-building, resource gathering, and fast-paced tactical combat within a grim dieselpunk world crawling with desperate humans and 30-foot-tall monstrosities. The game features three asymmetrical factions and dynamic battlefields with destructible environments and environmental hazards. A key innovation is its integrated strategic map layer for campaign planning, where real-time battles occur. Infantry must pair together with tanks, aviation, and other vehicles to achieve tactical victories and successfully win any engagements. With its blend of nostalgia, modern visuals, and ambitious scope for a solo project, Dust Front RTS is a compelling must-wishlist for fans seeking a return to traditional PC strategy games. Oh, just before you go on to the next entry, there’s also the capability of dropping nuclear weapons, you know, just for some extra gruesome points.

6 – Sanctuary: Shattered Sun

Do you miss Supreme Commander, but Beyond All Reason isn’t up to your standards? Well, maybe what you need in your life is Sanctuary: Shattered Sun. This spiritual successor to the all-time classic is probably one of strategy gaming’s most anticipated games of all time, as it’s promising to redefine the genre with its massive battles and dynamic, destructible environments. The game’s maps are set on a Dyson Sphere, and as the game allows players to command armies of thousands across vast maps, it also makes way for players to utilize innovative mechanics like earth-shattering superweapons and weather control to reshape the battlefield by freezing oceans or collapsing terrain, opening new avenues of attack, or dooming thousands of units at once. The Kickstarter is expected in July 2025, with Early Access projected for July 2026. Drawing comparisons to Supreme Commander, this PC strategy game emphasizes strategic macro-management and offers a seamless strategic zoom to control immense forces. With three distinct factions, fully simulated projectiles, and a focus on impactful decisions rather than rapid clicking, Sanctuary: Shattered Sun is poised to deliver a next-generation real-time strategy experience that belongs on the wishlist of any fan of epic-scale warfare.
