Things were looking kind of boring this week in this strategy and wargaming sphere of ours, with nothing of note going on. That was, until, the Steam Summer Sale kicked of, Burden of Command finally has a release date (7 years later), and Crusader Kings 3 biggest expansion ever was announced. Grab a mug of your favourite beverage, sit back, relax, and get up to date with everything going on at Strategy and Wargaming.

The sale started on March 13 and will run until the 20th of March.

Burden of Command Announces a Release Date

The game I’m most excited about in 2025 finally has a release date, and it’s going to be out on April 8th, less than a month away! I have played the Burden of Command demo and was massively impressed with it. I also want to let you know that I and Al from the Critical Moves Podcast just had a 2-hour talk with Luke, and you’ll be able to find out more about the game a week before it releases! I haven’t felt this hyped for a World War 2 game since Call to Arms: Ostfront came out.

Crusader Kings III Goes East With New Chapter

Crusader Kings enthusiasts are absolutely living their best lives right now. Crusader Kings III just announced Chapter IV and the medieval classic is now expanding eastwards. The first core expansion is going to be named Khans of the Steppe and its main focus will be a new Nomadic government system. All Under Heaven is set to be the most ambitious and largest expansion in Crusader King’s history, and the game is now going to include all of Asia. Yes, Imperial China is joining in the fun as well! This is excellent news.

Squad 44 Will Island Hop On The Pacific

Squad 44 the World War 2 tactical shooter previously known as Post Scriptum is trying to one-up Hell Let Loose once again. If the latter went to North Africa for their latest, major update, then Squad 44 is going to the Pacific. I don’t recall seeing a shooter going East since the release of Rising Storm, all the way back in 2013.

There’s a Single Player War Thunder Game Coming Out?

This is not a fever dream you’re having. There’s an actual spin-off of the popular online game War Thunder, and it’s focused exclusively on a singleplayer experience using virtual reality. Being the proprietors of what’s probably gaming biggest library of flyable aggressors, creating a singleplayer game using those assets is a logical next step I’m happy Gaijin is taking a gamble with Aces of Thunder.

Command: Modern Operations Has A New Fail Safe

Matrix’s most complex wargame, Command: Modern Operations recently got a new DLC called Fail Safe. Set in 1965, this new addition comes with a 12-mission campaign focusing on nuclear engagements, and advanced weapon platforms like SAM missions and new supersonic jets like the F-104 Starfights and the Mig-21. Will you press the big red button and plunge the world into nuclear annihilation?

Campaign Series: Vietnam Gets A Visual Remaster

Well, here’s something you don’t see every day. Campaign Series: Vietnam, a recent game, having come out in 2022, getting a visual remaster in 2025. This prettied-up version of the game has revamped 3D map graphics, giving players better readability and an overall cleaner and more pleasant look. There’s a new UI, a much-needed improvement. Alongside these visual improvements, there is also a laundry list of enhancements to nearly every aspect of the game. You can check them all out here.

If you’re interested in the title, give my review a read, I remember being impressed by how much content was available, but being a hardcore wargame, it might not be for everyone.

Armored Brigade 2 Goes To Steam On The Same Day As Burden Of Command

Armored Brigade 2, the 3D sequel for the beloved 2D Armored Brigade might already be out at the Slitherine store, but it’s coming to Steam on the 8th of April, on the same day that Burden of Command is also set to come out. Hopefully, having two titles come out at the same time won’t cannibalise their sales.
